Access the mineral rights of the KGP GRAND PLACER gold claim in Grand County, Colorado.
Each individual must have a permit to prospect.
All access requires both a submitted waiver and a paid timeslot before a permit is issued.
Location:
Grand County, Colorado - about 12 miles from Granby Colorado. Map and exact claim boundaries will be emailed with your permit.
About the Claim:
Experience gold prospecting at 8,500 feet elevation in scenic Colorado. This federally-registered, unpatented placer claim offers natural creeks ideal for panning and non-motorized sluicing — perfect for beginners and experienced prospectors.
Rules and Guidelines:
This permit grants temporary, non-exclusive rights to prospect the mineral rights only. It does not grant exclusive rights to the land surface or any rights for camping, fishing, or other recreational activities.
Surface activities such as fishing or camping are subject to public land regulations under the U.S. Forest Service. Fishing requires a valid Colorado fishing license, and dispersed camping is allowed according to public land rules (no campfires or hookups).
Only hand tools and pans are allowed for prospecting; no powered equipment such as dredges, motors, or highbankers.
Please pack out all trash and restore the creek by filling holes and dismantling any rock dams before you leave.
Pets are welcome but must be controlled at all times.
What to Bring
We recommend bringing water boots or waders, gold prospecting gear (pans, classifiers, sluices, snuffer bottles), camping supplies, food, water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and layers for changing weather conditions.
Booking & Access:
Choose your access period: $25 per day or $100 per week
Submit the waiver form for approval
After approval and payment, your permit will be emailed
Permit is your proof of authorized mineral rights access and should be available on-site if requested by U.S. Forest Service personnel.
