This Crystallized Gold is from the Western Sahara Asaa-Zag Province in Morocco, Africa.
A gold nugget is a unique, natural occurring piece of native gold, usually formed in fissures in the earth’s crust by hydrothermal mineral deposits. When these deposits erode due to weathering, the gold is released from the rock and can usually end up in placer deposits within rivers and streams.
Every gold nugget sold here is naturally formed. They can be flat, round, sharp or smooth. Some still have natural crystal formations from when the nugget was formed in the earth, and some have Quartz or Laterite (Ironstone) still within the gold matrix.
Gold nugget purity ranges around 14k to 23k. However, purity really doesn’t matter since gold nuggets are valued by size, weight and aesthetics at a premium. This means the larger, heavier or “better looking”, the more valuable they will be. If a gold nugget is melted, that premium is gone forever.
